For these workshops, I was invited by Tom James, Absolute Beginners, to run part of a series of workshops making basic goods in sustainable ways. They were held in Queensrollahouse in Park Royal, London’s once-thriving industrial area.
Over a month, we processed clay dug up from HS2 and made pinch pots, marked with the Absolute Beginners logo. We planned and built a DIY wood kiln, which we then fired the pots in from raw. The cups were later sold at the factory shop, with the profit going to the six participating young people and back into the project.
